Clamming can only be done at low tide, digging through the muddy muck for these delicious mollusks. This makes clamming a very time-sensitive fishery, with harvesters often rising in the wee hours of the morning to beat the tide. And, access can be a challenge, relying on municipal boat launches or working waterfronts to get down to clam level. It's tough work, but someone gotta do it.
