Sign Up For Free FFM Fish
In Maine, all preK-12 schools qualify to receive free fish through our
Fishermen Feeding Mainers program
How does it work?
When prices are low at the dock, we buy fish at fair market value, pay to have it processed locally, and then donate it to schools and food pantries throughout Maine. It's a win-win. Maine fishermen get paid fairly for their catch, and Mainers get to eat an incredibly fresh, sustainable, and local protein.
Signing up is quick and easy!
Step 1
Email Katie Knowles at DOE and ask to be put on the FFM mailing list.
Step 2
Once you've been added to the list, Mary Hudson from MCFA will email you when free fish is available.
Step 4
Click the link in Mary's email to claim as much fish as you would like. The species vary depending on markets - sometimes we have monkfish, flounder, or hake.
Step 5
Coordinate with Mary to pick up your fish in Portland, or work with us on a delivery option if your district is far away.
Step 6
Cook local fish for your students!
