Community Survey Open for Wildcat Property

As we shared in October 2025, MCFA received a generous gift of the former Wildcat lobster pound property in St. George. Since then, MCFA has launched a strategic outreach and planning process to identify the most pressing needs, opportunities, and gaps this property could help address. We are exploring a wide range of options, seeking ideas that might amplify opportunities and complement the work already being done along the Maine coast.

To maximize community input and make sure that all stakeholders can share their thoughts, we have created an online survey to gather input.

Answering the survey will help guide our conversations and bring new insights to the process. We welcome all ideas—no concept is too farfetched, half-baked, or outside the box. We want them all, and then we will begin the challenging job of determining the best path forward. 

Please keep in mind: 

• Our priority is serving Maine's commercial fishermen, harvesters, and fishing-related businesses. There are many ways to do this, but please keep commercial fishing and Maine's blue economy forefront in your mind. 

• Our hope is to provide benefit beyond the Saint George community. Although the property will clearly benefit Saint George and its closest neighbors, we would love to find a purpose that benefits fishermen and fishing businesses across a broader stretch of the Maine coast. 

• Our goal is to build bridges into future opportunities, and to find ways that bring fishermen, the seafood economy, and the community closer together.
